Heidifi vs Social WiFi: Which Platform Works Best for European Venues?

A side-by-side comparison of Heidifi and Social WiFi for European hospitality operators — focusing on GDPR, Swiss nFADP compliance, marketing channels, and AI capabilities.

European venue operators looking at guest Wi-Fi platforms often encounter Social WiFi as one of the options. It's a platform with a clear focus on social login — letting guests authenticate via Facebook, Google, or other social accounts — and it has solid adoption across restaurants, retail, and hospitality venues across Europe.

But social login is one feature within a larger guest marketing platform. Here's how Social WiFi and Heidifi compare across the dimensions that actually drive revenue: compliance depth, marketing channels, automation, and AI capabilities.

What Each Platform Prioritises

Social WiFi is built around the idea that social login reduces friction in the Wi-Fi onboarding flow. Guests tap their Facebook or Google account, authenticate in one step, and get online. The data captured through social login — name, email, sometimes demographic data — flows into a basic CRM and can be used for marketing.

Heidifi is built around the full guest marketing lifecycle: capture, engage, retain, and comply. It supports email and — uniquely for STR operators — Airbnb reservation-based verification. The compliance engine is built into every stage of data collection and outreach.

The Compliance Gap

Both platforms operate in Europe and both mention GDPR compliance. The depth of that compliance is where they diverge significantly.

Purpose-specific consent means that consent for email marketing is separate from consent for SMS marketing. A guest who checked the box to receive your newsletter has not consented to receive promotional texts. Under GDPR Article 7 and Recital 43, consent must be specific to each purpose.

Heidifi enforces this automatically. Every contact has a consent matrix — a record of which channels and purposes they've consented to. When you send a campaign, the system only delivers it to contacts who have valid, purpose-specific consent for that channel. If a contact unsubscribes, they're suppressed immediately. If consent expires or is withdrawn, the system respects it.

Social WiFi's consent handling is more basic. The platform captures a consent checkbox during the portal flow, but does not provide purpose-specific consent capture, versioned consent text, or automatic channel eligibility enforcement.

Warning

For Swiss operators, this matters beyond GDPR. The Swiss nFADP — effective since September 2023 — requires the same standard of explicit, purpose-specific consent for personal data processing. Non-compliance carries real penalties. Heidifi is built to cover both frameworks.

Identity Confidence Scoring

One feature unique to Heidifi is identity confidence scoring. When a guest completes your portal flow, the system assigns a confidence score based on the verification methods used. A guest who verified via Airbnb reservation confirmation has a higher identity confidence score than one who typed in an email address without verification.

This is useful for compliance (you know how reliable each contact's identity is) and for marketing (you can segment campaigns by verification quality). It's not a feature Social WiFi currently offers.

Marketing Automation

Heidifi supports trigger-based automation — campaigns that fire automatically based on guest behaviour:

  • First visit: A welcome email or offer triggered the moment a guest connects for the first time
  • Repeat visitor: A recognition campaign when a returning guest connects again
  • Post-stay: An email or SMS sent after check-out with a review request or future booking offer
  • Mid-stay: An upsell — late checkout, breakfast, local tours — sent during the guest's stay

Social WiFi supports basic automated messages but does not offer the same breadth of trigger types or the per-channel compliance validation that prevents sending to non-consenting contacts.

On the AI Pro plan, Heidifi also adds unlimited automations, AI-powered optimization, and WhatsApp campaigns — channels that Social WiFi doesn't currently support.

The Short-Term Rental Advantage

Heidifi has features purpose-built for Airbnb hosts and STR operators that Social WiFi does not:

  • Airbnb reservation verification — guests confirm their booking details at Wi-Fi login, tying their identity to an actual reservation
  • Digital property guide — a mobile-optimized, branded guide replacing paper welcome binders with house rules, local tips, parking info, and upsells
  • Multi-unit building support — apartment code verification for buildings with multiple units

If you run short-term rentals alongside a café or restaurant, Heidifi handles both from one platform.

Pricing

Heidifi's pricing is public and per-venue:

  • Starter: CHF 14.99/month or CHF 149/year (1 venue, 1 access point, 100 emails / 10 SMS / 10 WhatsApp included each month, top up with credits any time)
  • Growth: CHF 24.99/month per venue or CHF 229/year — includes 10 access points, email, SMS & WhatsApp automation, internal AI agent chat, 1,000 emails / 50 SMS / 50 WhatsApp included each month
  • AI Pro: Contact us — adds WhatsApp, unlimited automations, full AI suite

Social WiFi pricing is not publicly listed. You need to contact sales for a quote, which makes budget planning harder for independent operators.

Which Platform Should You Choose?

Choose Heidifi if:

  • You operate in Switzerland or the EU and need GDPR + nFADP compliance depth
  • You want purpose-specific consent, versioned consent text, and channel eligibility enforcement — not just a checkbox
  • You need email, SMS, and WhatsApp campaigns with enforced suppression
  • You run Airbnb or STR properties and want reservation verification + digital property guides
  • You want AI-powered tools to optimize your portal and campaigns
  • You want transparent, predictable per-venue pricing

Social WiFi may be a better fit if:

  • Social login (especially Facebook) is the primary authentication method you want
  • Your compliance requirements are less stringent (non-EU market, primarily US guests)
  • You want a simpler feature set with lighter configuration

For European venues — especially those operating in or serving guests from Switzerland — Heidifi's compliance depth and broader marketing channel support make it the more complete platform.
